My name is Michael Parker, I am a 3D artist/designer specializing in hard-surface modeling and computer aided drafting. I possess a Bachelor's Degree in computer art from SUNY Oneonta, a Master's Degree in Animation from Savannah College of Art & Design and a Certificate in CAD from Hudson Valley Community College. All my life I have had a passion for creativity, always drawing, designing and relishing my opportunities to take art classes in grade school. Creating art became a highly rewarding experience for me and I am still striving to constantly get better. I chose to pursue art in college, specifically computer art, which is where I knew the best job opportunities are for artistic individuals. I found my calling in the realm of 3D art and although I only took a couple modeling classes the experience really stood out to me. After completing undergrad I got into the animation graduate program at SCAD, where at first I still saw myself as a 3D generalist capable of organic or hard-surface modeling as well as animation. My time at SCAD has been crucial to helping me discover my creative strengths and narrowing down my focus as a 3D artist. I ultimately chose hard-surface modeling as the realm in which I thrive the most. Modeling 3D assets brings a certain level of zen and piece that I can not get from other realms of 3D art. Graduate school has also really helped me to become adept at producing quality work while under the pressure of a high workload and impending deadlines. In addition, I gained knowledge of how a collaborative production pipeline works, particularly the importance of clear communication and working with the awareness that others are depending on me. Following my time at SCAD I spent few years struggling to land the right career opportunities. I returned to school for a certificate in Computer Aided Drafting from Hudson Valley Community College where I found that my specific interests when it came to hard-surface modeling were better suited for drafting. I have proven highly adept at learning new software and through the HVCC program and my recent internship experience I have extensive training with using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Revit, as well as  SolidWorks experience. I particularly enjoy mechanical drafting using AutoCAD/SolidWorks and architectural drafting using Revit. I now feel that I am well-rounded in my 3D design skillsets and I am more open to a wider variety of career opportunities and my internship experience has allowed me the opportunity to apply my skills in a professional environment where I proved myself to be a reliable worker eager to take on whatever task is assigned to me.
